In 1757 the wine trading ship The Two Sisters of Dublin was seized while sailing between Bordeaux and Dublin. Also taken were the renowned 125 Bordeaux-Dublin Letters written by the Irish expatriate community in Bordeaux. These letters are one of the most historically important artefacts linking these two great cities and are the inspiration for our wine.
For the 1757 cuvée the grapes were sourced from small, high quality left and right bank vineyards to represent the classic characters of the region. Benefiting from the technical expertise of winemaker Daniel Llose and Lynne Coyle MW, O’Briens Director of Wine, we have created a unique Bordeaux wine using the dark berried Cabernet Sauvignon for its firm tannins and intriguing spices, blended with Merlot for its suppleness and defining elegance.
