This refreshing Riesling, with a wonderfully retro label, marks a collaboration between two renowned family wineries, namely Delheim in South Africa’s Stellenbosch and Wine Estate Hammel in Germany’s Pfalz. The wine is made from Delheim’s vineyard but with Christoph Hammel, a ninth-generation winemaker, involved in every step. A clean and precise wine with a real sense of place, in Germany this style would be known as “non-traditional”, with more fruit and less of the ‘terpene’ (chemical compounds) character often associated with Riesling.
